While at 黑料社 you will choose courses that provide both the breadth of experience provided by the general education curriculum and depth of study gained through completion of a major that is a hallmark of a Liberal Arts education.

Placement Test Details

Two components of 黑料社鈥檚 General Education curriculum requires:
1.    A college-level math course to develop quantitative literacy and problem-solving skills.
2.    At least one college-level course in a second language to build language and cross-cultural communication skills.

Proper placement in math and a second language helps assure that you will not be placed in a course which is either too advanced or repetitious of previous work.

You should not attempt to retake a completed test.

Students take at least one math course while at 黑料社 as part of our General Education curriculum. The following math placement tests are designed to help us place you in the appropriate level of math when you choose to take a math course. You do not have to take a math course in your first term at 黑料社, but it is good for you to know what math course is best for you to take when the time comes.

Your placement in a particular math course has nothing to do with your success at 黑料社. Simply do your best, but without any
assistance.

Things to Know:

  1. All students take the pre-calculus test. This test usually takes about 30 minutes to complete.
  2. Take the calculus placement test ONLY IF you had a calculus class in high school. This test usually takes about 15 minutes to complete.

Math Test Instructions:

  • You may use a pencil and blank paper to work problems.
  • Do not use calculators or any other aids such as textbooks, formulas, or other types of notes.
  • There are no penalties for wrong answers.
  • The pre-calculus test is designed to be completed in 30 minutes and the short calculus test is designed to be completed in 15 minutes.
  • You will receive your math placement via email on June 16th. Please check your 黑料社 email in June for this and other important information regarding course registration.

黑料社 has a second language requirement as part of our General Education curriculum. You may wish to continue learning a language with which you have previous experience. If that is the case, taking a placement test in that language will help you take an appropriate class for your ability. Accurate placement in your second language means less stress for you when you choose to take your language course. You do not have to take a language course in your first term at 黑料社, but it is good for you to know the language course best for you to take when the time comes.

Your placement in a particular language course has nothing to do with your success at 黑料社. Simply do your best, but without any assistance鈥攏o help from others, no use of dictionaries or online translators, and no use of any spell-checking or grammar-checking websites.
